Expert Electricians - Domestic and Commercial Rewiring
Harvey Electrical Services offer domestic and commercial rewiring to properties. HES can rewire a house, commercial unit or factory. We also offer a partial rewire; no job is too large or small.
As electrical experts, the team at Harvey Electrical Services offer both domestic, industrial and commercial rewiring of your property. If your premises has not been rewired within the last 25-30 years it is likely that it is due rewiring in order to bring it up to the latest and current standards and have the potential to help reduce on electricity running costs. All new wiring within your premises should conform to Part P: Electrical Safety and existing wiring should be updated to ensure that it can safely carry the new load. If your property is not rewired then this could be a potential safety hazard to the building as it could be at risk of electrical faults and fires in extreme cases.
When To Rewire?
There are a number of reasons why a property may need rewiring
We recommended your property is rewired every 25 years, this is mainly due to the insulation of the cable wearing down. This can cause nuisance tripping of circuit breakers, or if the consumer unit is as old as the cabling it may not even trip which can cause fires.
The current installation has been poorly installed, incorrect cable sizes used. Lots of additions could mean inaccessible joint boxes which in the event of a fault could mean damage to walls, ceilings etc to repair or replace cable. This is the last thing you want if you’ve just redecorated.
If you have just bought a property and the wiring hasn’t been touched in some time now is the perfect time to rewire, before any redecoration starts or new carpets go down. New cabling if installed correctly will last 25 years without an issue. Get in touch or fill in our rewiring questionnaire for a free instant estimate.
Be aware that some homes have new consumer units installed in order to pass regulations, a lot of the time these consumer units have been fitted to properties with wiring dating back to the 70s or even earlier. So while the property may meet regulations and pass an EICR on the day, the insulation on the cable could fail at a later date.
If there are no back boxes behind switches or sockets this would indicate a poorly installed or old electrical system and a visual inspection would be recommended.
We go through the job with you, marking out where you’d like your new electrical points.
We lift carpets and floorboards where access is needed. Heavy duty wall chasing equipment is used to create neat channels in the walls for new wiring and electrical points to be installed.
The new wiring is installed for all your electrical points such as sockets, downlights, data points etc. All wiring is capped using conduit for better protection.
Our in house plasterers get to work plastering all the chases and holes we’ve had to make to install cabling.
Once the plaster has set our teams get back to work installing socket fronts, light fittings etc.
Test & Commission
When the second fix is complete its time to power up and test the new installation. All new electrical installations are thoroughly tested to ensure they operate as they should before work is notified with building control and certificates emailed out.
